The best film sources!

Actualizado: 23 sept 2020

Hi again! Nice to see you came back to our blog. Today’s blog will be about the sources I find useful and inspiring when talking about films.

"Movie night" by Andrei Z licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 2.0

First on the list is All Movie, similar to the IMDb website, it provides general information on movies and tv shows. I find this website really useful when looking at a movie general aspect like the genre, director, cast, themes, reviews, etc.

When learning and understanding a movie story Dramatica is my favorite website. It provides a deeper analysis of the movie storyline and what the message to the audience is. It focuses on five main concepts; the story mind, overall story, the main character, and the influences and relationships of the character.

Next on the list is Anatomy of a scene by the New York Times. These are weekly videos on which different directors walk the audience through specific scenes, explaining the meaning of them.

Another source is Cinepremiere which is a Mexican web magazine that provides news, movie critiques, podcasts, and “watch lists”. It shows international critiques and things that are happening in the film industry. It also talks about facts that are not usually known or things that happened while filming a movie.

My last source is Lessons from the Screenplay, a YouTube channel containing multiple videos analyzing movie scripts and explaining how well-written they are. These are very clear and graphic videos.

"Page of 'Wizard of Oz' movie script" by national museum of american history is licensed under CC BY-NC 2.0

If you like watching YouTube videos, Thomas Flight and Just write YouTube channels are also very entertaining and useful for when taking a closer look at movies.

I hope you liked this blog and found it useful. Don’t forget to follow us on our social media! See you next week!
